Bus ToursIs your bus tour coming to Charlottesville? Let me show you around as a Step-On Guide. I will give your group preparatory information on the way to our attractions. Answer questions your group members may have. Augment or give the tours at the locations you are visiting. Assist the driver with directions and parking tips. (For example, there are some streets near the University of Virginia that a motor coach cannot follow. Turning around or backing up a bus for a quarter mile on a one-lane-each-direction road in rush-hour traffic--or any time for that matter--is something you really want to avoid.)
You probably want to take your group to Monticello, Michie Tavern and/or Ashlawn. By all means, that's a great idea. Those are all places worth seeing. But there are many other attractions and activities in the Charlottesville area worthy of your tour as well. Here's a sample of what your itinerary could include.
Incidentally, the bus in the photo above is the public trolley which loops between the University of Virginia and the Downtown Mall. It operates 6 AM to Midnight Monday - Saturday, 8 AM to 6 PM Sunday free of charge. There's one coming by about every 15 minutes Monday through Saturday, 30 minutes on Sundays. The whole loop takes about 1/2 hour. It is not a tour bus in that there is no commentary. It simply provides convenient, free transportation between downtown and the University of Virginia.
